Bexhill motorists get all-clear after blaze closure

BEXHILL motorists heading to work in Hastings had their normal route restored today.

Drivers had faced huge disruption on Friday following a fire drama in St Leonards.

A blazing van and the threat of exploding gas canisters closed the main A259 road for 24 hours.

The Bexhill to Hastings rail line was also shut down as a precaution.

A queue of traffic stretched from King Offa Way in Bexhill to Harley Shute Road, St.Leonards.

Police diverted main road traffic through Harley Shute and Gillsmans Hill.

By late morning on Friday, police gave the all-clear.
