Man falls from cliffs near Eastbourne

A beach near Eastbourne was closed on Thursday (August 13) after a man fell from the cliffs above it.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said, “Just before 11.10am on Thursday (August 13) a man was seen to fall from the cliffs at Birling Gap. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

“Enquiries to establish the identity of the man are ongoing and the matter has been passed to the coroner’s officer.”

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesperson said it was stood down from the incident and could not provide further information.
