A ROBBER brandished a gun at terrified counter staff as he raided the NatWest Bank in Peacehaven.

The lone robber, armed with a 9mm gun, ordered staff to fill a green and white John Lewis bag with cash after he entered the branch just before closing at 4.30pm on Tuesday.

A police spokesman said: 'Throughout the ordeal, which lasted only minutes, the man lunged a weapon, resembling a 9mm-type firearm, at staff.

No shots were fired and no one was injured. Only bank staff were in the branch in South Coast Road during the raid.

As the raider fled with several hundreds of pounds in cash staff raised the alarm. A squad of 10 police officers scoured the area and carried out house-to-house calls but found no trace of the crook.
