• On April 9, a team from Ashburnham and Penhurst WI took part in the preliminary round of the East Sussex Federation Quiz. The team comprised Johanna Thompson, Nicky Bishop, Louise Roberts and Jay Ashworth and they called themselves ‘The Brownbread Street Bakers’. A total of 23 teams took part in this heat and Ashburnham and Penhurst honour was upheld as the team won, even beating the reigning champions by 1 point! The WI team was a bit surprised to find that they did particularly well on the sport and politics rounds! The final will be contested by six teams (3 heat winners and 3 highest scoring losing teams) and will take place on June 20.
