Ambulance Action Halted

INDUSTRIAL action by ambulance staff has been halted following pay talks between Sussex Ambulance Service, trade unions and negotiators ACAS.

An overall pay increase of 4.2 per cent has been offered and a ballot of union members will take place to decide whether to accept the offer.

In addition, two extra days' annual leave is being offered for rotating shift staff who have completed 10 years' service.

Ambulance workers decided to take industrial action in protest over their pay and conditions last month.

It was decided they would not do any overtime and would not report response times to HQ.

A meeting will be arranged in April to talk further about terms and conditions for the year commencing October 1.
