All Saints church welcomes new vicar

ALL SAINTS Church welcomed Father Trevor Buxton as its new vicar on Monday.

In a licensing service on Monday, Father Trevor said an official goodbye to his previous parish in Brighton and started to settle in his new surroundings.

He took up his vocation after some years as a teacher. He went on to study at Chichester Theological College.

Church warden Debbie Clark said: "The service went very well. There were about 240 people there which was quite tight in our church but we squeezed extra chairs in. Many of the visitors were friends of Father Trevor and fellow canons and priests who had travelled from Brighton and Burgess Hill where he also used to work. A coach full of people came down from his previous parish - about 45 people.

"The church wardens presented him with some welcoming gifts which included a map of the area so he doesn't get lost and a porcelain figure of a labrador because he said he wanted a dog and we thought that sort would leave less puddles!

"We also gave him an Ainsley Harriet cook book called Meals in Moments, because he likes cooking but won't have much time for it now because he will be kept so busy with All Saints!"
