Albion joining forces with Arun to fight fat

FAT-fighters in Arun are being given the chance to get fit thanks to a new scheme by Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club.

Residents will be given help and advice on how to slim their waistlines by Albion in the Community (AITC), the charity arm of the football club.

AITC is running a ten-week course from next month, in Yapton.

Councillor Paul Wotherspoon, Arun District Council’s cabinet member for community development, said: “With spring on the horizon, it’s a great time of year to get in shape and tackle issues such as being overweight or unfit. These courses can be fun and thanks to funding from Arun District Council’s Wellbeing programme, they’re free, so sign up and see what a difference a course like this could make.”

Recent figures released by Public Health England show nearly two in three people in Arun are overweight and more than a fifth of the district’s population obese.

The course runs at the Yapton and Ford Village Hall, in Main Road, from Monday, March 3, until Monday, May 19.

Sessions take place from 10am until midday.
