Air displays to go ahead at Goodwood Revival

The air displays at next month’s Goodwood Revival will go ahead as planned following the Shoreham plane crash.

There is currently a ban on vintage jets performing ‘high-energy aerobatics’ over land at air shows following Saturday’s tragedy.

Revival takes place from September 11 - 13 and as well as the racing, it features fly-overs from a range of historic aircraft during the weekend.

The Civil Aviation Authority has limited old plans to ‘flypasts’ and Goodwood said spectator safety would remain a priority.

A statement said: “Goodwood Revival wishes to reassure everyone who plans to attend this year’s event that the timetabled air displays will go ahead, as planned.

“Spectator safety remains of the highest importance at Goodwood events and we would like to point out that all our air displays conform to the Civil Aviation Authority Air Display Policy (CAP 403).”

On Saturday a Hawker Hunter performing a loop at the airshow crashed down on the A27.

It is believed 11 people were killed, while the pilot remains in a medically-induced coma after sustaining multiple injuries.
