The group was marking its 50th anniversary of being in the village with a party packed full of nostalgia.

The day was held at the Trefoil Guild’s HQ at the Guide Hall, in Woodlands Avenue. Guild member Judy Woods, who assisted in arranging the day, said it was one of the group’s best ones yet.

She said: “It was marvellous – a really wonderful, wonderful day.

“Everyone said it was the best day that we have had in a long time.”

During the afternoon, members watched a presentation about the group’s history with slides showing a range of their past fundraisers

Mrs Woods’ grandson, Ben Michael, 26, gave a captivating piano performance – although he was no stranger to this, having played for the group when he was seven.

Joseph Woods baked a cake, which was cut by longest serving member, Kay Parfitt – who was one of the original seven to found the group – with chairman Beryl Maddams.

The guild is a Guiding group for adults and meets on the second Monday of the month.
