100-mile march to raise hospice cash

A group of friends from a Silverhill pub trekked more than 100 miles to raise cash for St Michael's Hospice.

The seven pals braved all weathers to march from Winchester to Hastings to help out the St Leonards-based charity.

It took them just over three days and netted the hospice more than 2,000.

Geoff Harmer, Damon Foster, Dan Clark, Jason Burgess, Austyn Hayman, Anthony Sullivan and 17-year-old Sam Pearce camped out along the route.

Generous Nigel Day gave up his time to drive a mini-bus carrying their tents and belongings and the group also received bumper donations from a host of local businesses.

They are still collecting donations at the Duke pub in Duke Road, St Leonards.
