'Wobble room' created for St Michael's Hospice staff

A 'wobble room' providing a comforting space for staff members has been created at St Michael's Hospice.

Quiet spaces have also been created for clinical employees away from the 'hustle and bustle' of the wards.

In-patient unit nursing manager Jo Pinder said: "After seeing a post on social media, I was inspired to create our own version of a Wobble Room for the team to have some time out, space, or some peace and quiet during these challenging times.

"With support from our Wellbeing Team and Rebekah Domer, a Spiritual Care volunteer from the Darvell Bruderhof community, we have created a tranquil space with a Positivi-Tree for the team to share their positive thoughts.

"The tree was a gift from Darvell Bruderhof and the hearts, flowers and butterflies cards to hang on the tree were made by Rebekah, along with some mindfulness techniques.

"Hospice CEO Karen Clarke, gifted a Himalayan rock salt lamp, known to release negative ions creating a soothing environment, and a beautiful wooden bowl, made by her dad.

"We all have wobbles and caring for ourselves is key if we are to care for our patients, their loved ones and each other. Always remembering, it's okay not to be okay."
