A-Level results: Founding Claremont students set the bar high

The Bodiam school, recently rated by Ofsted as Outstanding in every department, has year by year delivered some of the highest examination results in East Sussex and this year is no exception.

Many of the school’s founding students, along with their peers in Year 13, celebrated a ‘fantastic’ crop of A Level results, with 99 per cent securing places at universities of their choice, a 99 per cent pass rate across all A-Level subjects and some outstanding individual performances.

Headmaster Giles Perrin was understandably delighted.

“Our first crop of A Level results marks a significant landmark in the school’s development and I am so proud of all the students and staff involved,” he said.

“Our pledge to the parents and students, who put faith in the school when we first opened, was to deliver an outstanding educational experience and set them up for the next stage of their lives and that is exactly what we have done.

“We feel that, in every respect, they are ready to move on and such excellent A-Level results, right across the board, are the icing on the cake.

“Since we opened the school, we have been determined to deliver the very highest in academic standards.

“Our examination results at GCSE and now at A-Level have demonstrated that not only do those with the highest academic ability achieve the very top grades and secure places at leading universities, but the value that we add to students of all academic abilities is truly exceptional.

“Congratulations to all the students and staff involved.”

A number of students secured straight A grades, including Will Bilton, who will read applied medical science at University College London, Guy-Louis Rongier who will study engineering at Bath University and Alex Hoad who will read aerospace engineering at Surrey University.

Three quarters of all A Level grades were A*-C and 25 per cent were either A* or A.

Results in the performing arts, including art and drama, were particularly high.

Claremont Senior School has established an excellent track record in public examinations, the school is rightly proud of these results and very much look forward to the GCSE results, which will be released next week, a spokesman said.
