New rules came into effect on Monday, under the government’s Covid-19 restrictions, and now care home residents are allowed one named visitor.
At Kingsland House care home, it has meant Gwen has finally been able to see her husband Roger in person again. He was overwhelmed and said it was so lovely to be able to visit her again.

Karen Williams, general manager, said: “It is wonderful to be able to see the residents with their loved ones once again, it brings a little normality back to Kingsland House, it’s an emotional time.”
Kingsland House provides nursing care, residential care, respite care and dementia care. As restrictions begin to lift, the home has been thinking about others who have been working hard during the pandemic and residents were asked to choose who they would like to send a treat to.
Firefighters at Shoreham Fire Station were selected to receive homemade cakes.
