Call for people in Horsham to support local traders

A rallying call has gone out to people in Horsham to support local traders.

With more shops and garden centres beginning to reopen amid the Covid-19 crisis, Horsham councilor Christine Costin is calling on people to back local businesses.

“We need to think about the health of Horsham town’s local economy and the necessity to achieve a sound recovery,” she said.

“Normality will not be with us until the infection rates and death rates for Covid-19 are much lower. Hopefully trends are going the right way.

“Local businesses are preparing and they need your support. So as people start to spend in a more normal way - please support your local retailers, local tradesmen, services and entertainment providers.

“Takeaways have to some extent been operational - but cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs and entertainments have not been open which has exerted heavy pressure on them.

“They are going to need your patrionage and your trust to restore activities which most of us have missed.

“They have been a central part of our everyday lives. The pleasures of eating out, having a drink and relaxing together has been good for everyone’s wellbeing and it is important that we do not lose the relaxation and normal interaction that we have come to value.

“Your local Horsham businesses have been stretched and pressured, please get behind them and reap the benefits of a town that is famous for its variety of traditional and independent businesses plus fine niche traders all blended with great modern multiples.”
