Rotary Club of Bexhill - August 1

John Wilton is no stranger to Bexhill, having visited the club previously when he was Assistant District Governor, and the members were interested to hear in his address to the club the plans within District, National and International Rotary for the coming year.

These include Rotary International working to finally eradicate polio from four remaining areas in the world where it still causes suffering, and aiming to cut child mortality rates from disease and dirty water, and the Rotary International Britain and Ireland wishes of schools for all and helping to clear minefields from affected areas, as well as continuing to work for local people.

A rather appropriate summary was "Make dreams real".

The "flotilla" from Fleet, as they were referred to, were there to wish their transferring member Anthony Thomas well, or maybe to make sure that he actually went! Either way they were all very welcome and duly

witnessed the customary induction.

Anthony joined Rotary at Fleet in 1988 and has a very impressive history of service in chairing committees, club secretary for nine years and President in 1999-2000, and finally being presented with the ultimate Paul Harris award.

Educated at Dulwich College, Anthony qualified as one of the first Licensed Conveyancers, having always specialised in residential and commercial property law, then mainly for health reasons, he and wife Barbara decided to downsize and move last year, eventually finding a property here in Bexhill.

They have an adult son, Richard, and daughter, Helena. His interests include shooting, motorcycling and researching family history. The President and members wish him well for his time in Bexhill Rotary.
