Prepare to be amused, amazed and inspired

It’s been welcomed with open arms into the heart of Hastings and now Polari On Sea is back for a third evening at the Printworks in Claremont.

Next Thursday evening, August 27, sees guests Karen McLeod - also known as Barbara Brownskirt - J.Fergus Evans, Ginny Dougary and Mirando The Gay Tempest as the latest guests who will enlighten, inspire, amaze and amuse.

They join host Paul Burston who has been delighted by the local response to the event. He commented: “I’m thrilled at how quickly Polari has established itself in Hastings. The first event in June was busy. Last month was absolutely packed. And the feedback from audiences has been fantastic. We’ve had people aged 18 to 80, from all walks of life, all enthusing wildly about the diversity of the lineups and the quality of the performances.

“Last month opened with an impromptu singalong to Dusty Springfield and ended with David McAlmont singing Diamonds Are Forever.

This month promises to be just as entertaining, though I have been warned that a certain Barbara Brownskirt, the self styled ‘world’s greatest unpublished lesbian poet’, may make an unscheduled appearance. I can only apologise in advance to anyone troubled by her obsession with Judy Dench or traumatised by her appalling wordplay.”

7pm for 7.30pm start. £8 (£6 conc) from Eventbrite or OND
