Now in its ninth year, the Hailsham Festival is soon to present another diverse programme of events.
The festival has evolved and grown but its core values remain the same - to support and promote the arts in the local community.
Hailsham and the surrounding area has a vibrant art network and the festival provides an opportunity to invite performers and artists from further afield and to highlight local talent.
This year’s events vary widely, from classical concerts to a Pearlie king and queen and will also include a jive workshop, barn dance, Baroque singing, Voices and Bells, jazz, poetry, films, art exhibitions, workshops and talks. A multicultural finale this year will showcase the highly acclaimed ‘Cossack Show ‘ a lively and energetic eastern European dance company, performing at the Hailsham Pavilion, which will astound with high jumps and sheer stamina.
The Festival Art Trail has gained popularity each year, there are now 14 open studios or exhibition venues with several new additions, including Michelham Priory. Remember to tune in to Hailsham Festival FM Radio Station for daily updates on what’s happening, such as the festival launch at the Chapter 12 winebar on Thursday August 20 from 6-8pm when programmes will be available listing all that is taking place, which also includes a ‘3 Minute Wonder’ film competition.
