The cast has been confirmed for this summer’s comedy Don’t Dress for Dinner at the Devonshire Park Theatre from July 19-30. Eastbourne favourite Ben Roddy leads the mayhem with Damian Williams, Sue Devaney, Polly Lister and Tracey Penn.
Ben Roddy has performed in a number of productions at the theatre including the other Marc Camoletti farce Boeing Boeing, and most recently A Party to Murder.
Joining Ben will be Damian Williams who has starred at the Devonshire Park in My Dogs Got No Nose. He is one of the UK’s best pantomime dames and a brilliant comic actor who will be the perfect foil as Robert to Ben Roddy’s Bernard.
Taking the role of Suzette the chef is Sue Devaney who will be familiar from many TV roles including Jane in Dinnerladies opposite Victoria Wood, Debbie Webster in Coronation Street and ‘our’ Rita in the cult children’s show Johnny Briggs; she has also toured the world in Mamma Mia.
UK Theatre Award winner Polly Lister joins the cast; Polly won for her portrayal of Beverly in Abigail’s Party last year. Polly’s many other credits include I Was A Wife which she also wrote, and will tour later this year. Completing the line-up as Suzy is Tracey Penn, Tracey has previously ‘trod the Devonshire Park boards’ in Robin Hood;other credits include Made in Dagenham plus Hairspray and Legally Blonde (National Tours).
Don’t Dress for Dinner follows Bernard who has invited Suzy his gorgeous Parisian mistress to his home for the weekend as his wife is away; he’s invited his best friend Robert along as an alibi and with a feast from chef Suzette what could possibly go wrong?
