All aboard The Ghost Train - a new nail-biting production of Arnold Ridley’s much-loved comedy thriller which stops at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Theatre from Tuesday, April 21-Saturday, April 25.
The action begins when a group of travellers are stranded in a remote Cornish railway station on a stormy night and grudgingly accept they have to spend the night in a cold waiting room.
Spooky goings-on soon begin after they are warned by the station master of a mysterious death 20 years ago and the ghostly train that has since haunted the railway line.
Ridley, best known for his portrayal of Private Godfrey in the classic sitcom Dad’s Army, wrote this play in 1923 when he was just 27. He was inspired after becoming stranded overnight at Mangotsfield station in Bristol, now a disused station on the Midland Railway main line.
The Ghost Train stars Jeffrey Holland, Corrine Wicks, Tom Butcher, Sophie Powles, Judy Baxton and David Janson.
