Seaford’s summer Shakespeare event

Seaford will become Shakespeare-On-Sea when a summer school led by Wycliffe actor Jack Shepherd is held from August 1-5.

To celebrate the 400th Anniversary of our greatest playwright, the Players Collective is offering this opportunity with five days of intensive workshops, culminating in two mini performances of The Tempest and Measure for Measure.

There will be a choice of daily workshops at the theatre in Steyne Road running from 10am-10pm. These will be led by renowned actor Jack Shepherd and facilitated by professional tutors qualified in theatre and education.

The Shakespeare Summer School is open to applicants over 18, although applicants over 16 will be considered. All applicants must be fluent English speakers.

The summer school will be exciting and innovative with an emphasis on making Shakespeare come alive and will incorporate workshops for all disciplines in the theatre, including acting, voice, Laban movement, text interpretation, singing, directing, design, scenic painting and technical skills.

The Shakespeare Summer School is ideal for anyone planning on applying to drama schools this year and next. Applicants have to prepare a Shakespeare monologue as part of the audition process for all the major drama schools and university drama departments.

Seaford Little Theatre is a well-equipped theatre, three minutes from the sea and the town. There is free car parking on the sea front.
