The entrancing musical Barnum, which famously starred Michael Crawford in the West End, is being presented by Herstmonceux Amateur Theatrical Society (HATS). This huge musical will be at Herstmonceux Village Hall from November 4-7.
The cast members have been rehearsing since May and had to undertake circus skills training at three separate workshops - including learning to walk on stilts and across tight ropes, getting to grips with juggling, tumbles and a dizzying array of tricks.
Chris Thompson the director said: “This has been such a fun show to rehearse. Watching everyone try to learn skills they have never tried before has been hilarious. They have all attacked it with full enthusiasm and are now exceptionally good at the required skills. This really is worth coming to see just to appreciate the work that has gone in by the cast to achieve these skills. These people are amateurs and the standard they have achieved in my opinion is brilliant.”
He added: “The show is full of colour, vibrance and entertainment from beginning to end and features songs such as The Colours Of My Life, Join The Circus, and Come Follow The Band.”
Evening performances at 7.30pm, plus a matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday November 7.
