CREATIVE Cow Theatre Company is bringing Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s The Rivals to the Devonshire Park Theatre from October 16-20.
And the theatre will be holding one of its popular Pay What You Can evenings on the opening night.
Set in the 1700s, The Rivals tells the story of a day in the life of a circle of socialites, swooping in on the fashionable city of Bath, to take the waters, find romance and have a jolly good gossip.
Enter Mrs Malaprop with her twisted phrases, her niece Lydia Languish, who is busy falling in love with the handsome Captain Jack Absolute, who himself is being pushed around by his explosive father, Sir Anthony Absolute.
Packed full of extraordinary comic characters with a huge helping of confusion, duels, madness and mayhem, this hilarious 18th century masterpiece is sure to brighten the dullest of autumn evenings.
Katherine Senior, founder member of Creative Cow, said, “We’re very excited about this new production.
“It’s a hugely enjoyable – and expertly crafted – piece of theatre.”
Evening performances are at 7.45pm, with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets cost from £13.50-£19.50 (or whatever you can afford on the opening night), call 412000.
