This Christmas the Royal Hippodrome Theatre is putting on a cracking show full of festive cheer.
The Royal Hippodrome Theatre Co, headed by Sarah Dormady and Susie Blundell, produces this sizzling production.
This is the team which brought to Eastbourne the critically acclaimed White Christmas and Disney’s Little Mermaid as well as last year’s Christmas Cracker.
This year’s offering has everything that appeals to audiences of all ages from tap dancing penguins, comical grumpy old men and pantomime cows to great songs, comedy sketches and dazzling set and costumes.
The show, which opened on November 5, has been entertaining audiences every Thursday at 2.30pm.
If the smiles on the faces of patrons - many of whom are visiting the town for Turkey and Tinsel breaks - are anything to go by – it looks as though the company has a hit on its hands.
The show has two further Thursday matinees on November 26 and December 3 before it returns on December 19 for a Christmas run until December 27.
To celebrate, the theatre is putting on a “very special” extra charity performance in aid of for the community on November 26 at 6pm.
The event is being held to raise funds for both the theatre’s restoration fund and Starlight, which is of course the charity which makes dreams and wishes come true for local children in hospitals and hostels.
Tickets for the show are free but patrons are asked to pay what they think the show’s worth/give a donation after the show.
Tickets are available by calling 01323 80 20 20 or online www.royalhippodrome.com. Tickets are limited to two per address.
Darren Weir for the theatre commented: “This is the third time we have offered free tickets to the community to see a show.
“It gives us a great opportunity to reach out to the locals and try and get them to visit the theatre when they might not normally think about doing so.”
Tickets will be available for this special performance from Friday November 20 at 10am.
