Casting for Eastbourne’s pantomime Beauty and the Beast, is now complete and the team at the Devonshire Park Theatre are delighted to announce that taking the role of the magnificent Malevolent is the Hollyoaks star and current toast of the West End, Carley Stenson.

Carley will be familiar to many for her long-running role of Steph Cunningham in the Channel 4 drama Hollyoaks, which she played for more than 10 years.

After leaving the show Carley returned to her roots and has carved out a hugely successful career in the West End, playing a host of leading parts in some of London’s most successful musicals.

Particular highlights include Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Elle Woods in the comedy musical Legally Blonde and most recently she has been performing nightly as the Lady of the Lake in Spamalot.

Beauty and the Beast will be Carley’s first Eastbourne pantomime and writer and director Chris Jordan is delighted to have secured her talents.

He said “To have someone as experienced on the musical stage as Carley cast in Beauty and the Beast is just fantastic.

“I know she’ll work really well alongside Emily Bull as Beauty who has also appeared in many West-End hits including Les Miserables, Grease and Sweeney Todd.”

Eastbourne favourites Martyn Knight and Tucker return to cause more chaos at the Chateau as mother and son duo Dame Derriere and Potty Pierre and Adam McNab returns to play the ‘beastly’ Prince.

Beauty and the Beast is based on the French fairy-tale of a lowly woodcutter who stumbles across the Beast’s lair deep in the forest, but is this ugly creature really as cruel as he appears.

Whatever happened to the handsome prince and just how many corny jokes can Tucker fit into one pantomime?!

The show will be given the full Eastbourne Theatres pantomime treatment complete with live band, stunning and specially designed and created costumes and, of course, a large helping of pantomime magic.

With tickets priced from just £12 it won’t be beastly on the pocket either.
