Broadway’s funniest show Avenue Q, brought to the Under Ground Theatre by the Bootcamp Theatre Company and Green Room Productions, made its Eastbourne debut and received three standing ovations!
If you didn’t get to see Avenue Q you missed a real treat. The show exploded onto the stage with an amazing cast of people and puppets.
In this coming-of-age parable it doesn’t take long before you are pulled into the believable world of the puppets, and not their unconcealed puppeteers, who have found themselves on the ‘wrong side’ of Sesame Street’.
That said, the actors’ expressions and movements mirrored the puppets and between the two they told a very funny, apt tale of love, hope and missed dreams in the puppets’ quest to find ‘a purpose’ in life.
The script is hilarious and addresses issues such as sex, drinking and surfing the web for porn.
Littered with aphorisms and very catchy songs, the show is full of warmth, wit and fun.
The talented cast delivered strong performances at every performance and received well-deserved standing ovations from their three sell-out performances.
