THE EASTBOURNE Festival kicks off this weekend and there will be a taster of some of the acts that can be seen during the extravaganza with a special preview in the town centre tomorrow (Saturday).
The Streets of Eastbourne event will be in Terminus Road between Debenhams and TJ Hughes and as well as market stalls there will be entertainment by a varied range of professional and community performers featuring dance, music and theatre.
There will be a staged area within Sussex Gardens where people can watch Mandolin Magic, cancan dancers, Irish dancers, circus monkeys and as well as an information stand with festival brochures which include all festival details about performances, Artists’ Open Houses and the Green Fayre. As part of the Eastbourne Festival’s thriving art scene, John and Helen Warren will once again welcome visitors to their arts and crafts style house and garden at 49 Prideaux Road, Eastbourne.
At The Big House, one of many Artists’ Open Houses and Studios, there will be paintings, ceramics, prints, jewellery, glass and designer clothes.
Together with 10 exhibitors John Warren will have a selection of ceramic birdbaths, green men and planters in the garden together with jugs, bowls and smaller pieces inside. Helen Warren will be showing her paintings of local scenes, dancing girls and her recycled fabric scarves.
The Big House will be open the first two weekends of the festival, Saturday and Sunday April 23 and 24, Bank Holiday Monday, Saturday April 30, Sunday May 1 and the May Bank Holiday Monday from 11am to 5pm each day.
