Written by John Agard, who was awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2013, the play Puff is described as a ‘satirical imagining’ of the The Virgin Queen’s tobacco-fuelled flirtations with Raleigh.
The event is the first date in East Sussex and features Leann O’Kasi as Elizabeth and Christopher Paddon as Ralegh.
John Agard makes a cameo appearance in the production, which is directed by Mark C. Hewitt.
The play is being put on at The Wish Tower, King Edward’s Parade, at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 1.
Tickets are £10 in advance from www.leweslivelit.co.uk or from the Birley Centre, Carlisle Road, opposite Towner Gallery, on the day available with pre-show drinks from 6.30pm
