Opera & Ballet International presents an Ellen Kent production of Tosca at the Congress Theatre on Friday, February 8, 7.30pm - the first of a double bill of opera that weekend. Directed by Ellen Kent, and starring the celebrated international soprano Elena Dee, this traditional production is a heady mixture of true love, torture and treachery, with two of the best roles for . This production will be sung in Italian with English subtitles.
The next day (7.30pm) brings Carmen, again directed by Ellen Kent, and this traditionally staged new production, set in Seville and reflecting a Goya painting, with fountains, flowers. Carmen features some of the most evocative and best-loved melodies in opera, including perhaps the best-known baritone aria of all; The Toreador’s Song. Sung in French with English subtitles.
