There’s currently an enormous upsurge of interest among people of all ages in piano, generated by the smash hit film, ‘Behind the Candelabra’, a biopic of the legendary entertainer, Liberace.
Eastbourne has its own link to Liberace via local pianist and Bandleader, Paul Davis, who played Liberace’s piano at the Dorchester during his time as resident pianist there.
The very same piano played by Michael Douglas in the film.
Bandleader Paul has played with musical greats and Las Vegas contemporaries of Liberace such as Buddy Greco and Billy Eckstein.
Paul’s fabulous big band, made up of top musicians, returns for the 11th year in Swing Session 11 at the Congress Theatre on Sunday, June 30 at 3pm.
Lovers of the very very best swinging band music are in for a treat - but without the sequins and fur.
Baubles, bangles and beads were great for Liberace but Paul will stick to the jazzy musical version, played in a smart tuxedo.
Tickets are available from the Congress Theatre Box Office on 01323 412000, at £13.50 and £14.50.
