THE GOOD news for Eastbourne is that The Boys are back in town.
Or, more accurately, they’re in town for the first time – when Shadows’ tribute band The Boys make their Eastbourne debut on June 11.
They’ll be on stage at the Under Ground Theatre’s weekly coffee morning for two hours, from 10am – and entry is free.
Enthusiasts of a certain age will need no reminding that the Shadows were the backing group for Cliff Richard – and soon emerged from the back of the stage to the front, as they became a chart-topping group in their own right.
Pete Neal plays lead guitar for The Boys – as does Don Lee. Roger Messeter is on rhythm guitar – with Roger Hughes playing bass.
The four members of the band say they are “avid” fans of the Shadows’ music – and have been since the early 1960s.
However, they didn’t get together as a foursome until early 2007. They’ve appeared a number of times at Pevensey Festival, as well as the Fairlight Festival in Hastings – and regular venues have included the Cooden Beach Hotel, in Bexhill, and the Beach Tavern. Pevensey Bay.
Throughout the morning, you’ll be able to buy Fairtrade coffee and tea, and home-made cakes– and tickets for future UGT shows.
