MUSIC: Pavilion plays host to some Country Blues

PAUL Jones and Dave Kelly, the long-standing co-vocalists with The Blues Band, come to the Hailsham Pavilion ready to give a rootsy and exhilarating set of Country Blues on Saturday, January 15 (7.30pm).

Paul Jones career began with Manfred Mann in the 1960s, then going on to be a successful soloist and songwriter.

Apart from his live work with The Blues Band and The Manfreds, he is also presents BBC Radio 2’s Rhythm and Blues show, and his Jazz FM programmes.

Paul’s feeling for his music and his masterfully soulful harmonica playing has kept him at the top of his field in session work, together with countless performances recorded for TV and cinema soundtracks.

He’s been voted top male vocalist by the British Blues Connection, and has special award for services to the blues.

Dave Kelly followed his very talented sister, Jo Ann, into the world of professional music in 1966.

He was soon to cross paths with the likes of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Son House and Buddy Guy to name but a few; ultimately Dave has played with them all and has toured with Wolf and Hooker.
