MUSIC: Elaine the ‘first lady of musical theatre’

MULTI-PLATINUM recording artist Elaine Paige will be performing at the Congress Theatre on March 3 (7.30pm).

Known as ‘the first lady of musical theatre’ Paige has starred in numerous West End productions and on Broadway and in concert internationally.

She was catapulted to fame after her award-winning performance as Eva Peron in Evita.

Shortly after she took to the stage in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats and the classic song Memory became one of Paige’s hit records.

Further theatre productions include: Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, Billy, Chess, Sunset Boulevard, The King and I and many others.

As well as singing and acting Paige currently presents her own show on BBC Radio Two.

She will be performing some of the modern classics from her new album, Elaine Paige and Friends, along with a selection of her favourite standards and greatest hits.
