THE EASTBOURNE singer who was in 1980s chart topping band Scarlet Fantastic is celebrating as their top 20 single No Memory is to be re-released.
Maggie K de Monde, who lives in Channel View Road, sang in Scarlet Fantastic, best known for the single No Memory.
Maggie said that due to popular demand Cherry Red records is re-releasing the band’s album 24 Hrs later this month. The CD will include a 16 page colour booklet and rare bonus tracks.
“I am over the moon about the re-issue of the CD,” said Maggie. “It was great hearing the songs all over again. I had forgotten about some of them.
“It’s funny that 24 Hrs the album is being released 24 years later, It still sounds like a really good album, I’m really happy that there’s been such a demand for it and it’s amazing really, funny to think that we made the album all those years ago and that people still enjoy listening to it.
“I guess the 80’s revival must be in full swing! I keep hearing No Memory on the radio, on national radio & also on Sovereign, I think it’s one of those songs that never died, it never went away. It’s a great summer anthem too as it became very popular on the Ibiza scene in the ‘90s.”
Maggie still enjoys a musical life. “I am still passionate about music,” she said, “and have never stopped songwriting, singing, recording and performing. I have just finished a new album, a collaboration with Martin Watkins, Marc Almond’s co writer, another labour of love of which I’m very proud. We are called Maggie and Martin and the album title is Union.”
