They’ve had sell-out performances twice before at the Under Ground Theatre in Eastbourne – now Gypsy Jazz exponents Rythme Futur return in the hope of making it three in a row.
The quintet plays jazz and swing inspired by the ‘Hot Club de France,’ which featured the great Django Reinhardt on guitar.
Taking this as their starting point, Rythme Futur’s repertoire also includes Gypsy and Latin tunes, all performed with the fiery energy and fast improvisational lines typical of ‘Jazz Manouche’.
With Julie McKee adding classy vocals to the line-up of two guitars, bass and clarinet/sax, this is a show packed with panache.
The band’s style has been described as ‘adrenaline fuelled Romany jazz’, and you can test the accuracy of this at this gig.
The band plays at the Under Ground Theatre on Saturday, June 14, starting at 8pm.
