Concentus will showcase ability to diversify “both culturally and musically” when the choir performs its summer concert this month.
Concentus will be joined by children from Eastbourne’s Heron Park Primary Academy and Stafford Junior School, and Seaford’s Cradle Hill Community Primary School and Seaford Primary School.
The concert this year will be one of two halves but united throughout by the addition of the children who will be joining this 90+ strong award-winning adult choir as they sing songs from both Europe and Africa.
The first half of the concert will feature a programme of well-loved music from Puccini to Lennon and McCartney and will also include songs from Oliver and Joseph with the children adding an exciting vocal dimension to existing adult harmonies.
After the interval the audience will be transported to Africa as Alexander L’Estrange’s Zimbe! is performed with the spirit, energy and simplicity typical of the African musical tradition. Performances at the Downs Leisure Centre, Seaford on Saturday June 18 at 6pm and at The Kings Centre, Edison Road, Eastbourne on Saturday June 25 at 4pm. Tickets cost £10 (£5 for under 16’s) – from Eastbourne Tourist Information or Semantics, 33 Grove Road, or in Seaford at Newberry Tully Estate Agents.
