Big band sounds swing on a Sunday

What better way to while away a Sunday afternoon in June than with the sounds of Glenn Miller, Count Bassie, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald in the company of the Paul Davis Big Band at the Congress Theatre with Swing Session (Sunday 26 June, 3pm).

This delightful afternoon performance returns to Eastbourne featuring the popular vocalist with a big stage presence Grant Martins and the talents of Paula Pout, who is sure to wow the audience with her glamourous ensembles and stunning voice.

The Paul Davis Big Band features musicians from the original Ted Heath Band, Ronnie Hughes and Bill Gelard, which will make the special tribute even more poignant.

Showman and bandleader Paul has been a regular fixture of the Swing Session concerts since their first incarnation in 2003. In addition to leading the band Pianist Paul will also share information about the pieces of music and, of course, his trademark repartee between songs.

Paul’s granddaughter Leanne Kyte, who has previously performed with him in Swing Session, recently appeared at the Congress Theatre in the acclaimed show Ireland’s Call. Leanne said: “I have been lucky enough to share the stage with my grandfather three times performing in Swing Sessions at The Congress Theatre, Eastbourne. Over the years he has nurtured my love of music and wholly supported my decision to pursue performing as a career. It was such a pleasure to be returning to this beautiful theatre as a professional in Ireland’s Call the Musical”
