MAKING their debut at the Under Ground Theatre in the closing gig of the current jazz season is the Nigel Price Organ Trio – last but by no means least.
This band were voted Best Jazz Ensemble in the 2010 Parliamentary Jazz Awards.
And they’ll be in good company on July 15 (8pm) when they’re joined by rising sax star Vasilis Xenopoulos.
Guitarist Nigel spent time in funk fusion bands before discovering jazz.
He was the regular guitarist with both the Sheena Davis group and the James Taylor Quartet, and had a stint in the Ronnie Scott House Band, before forming his own trio.
Nigel’s blend of flowing bebop lines, blues feeling and the will to swing has made him instantly accessible and popular with jazz audiences. Matt Home (drums) and Bill Mudge (Hammond organ) complete the trio.
Vasilis Xenopoulos is a frequent guest with Nigel’s band. Originally trained in saxophone and composition at the Berklee College in Boston, Vas has lived in London for the last seven years and worked with the cream of the UK jazz scene. He also leads his own band - Vasilis and the Xtet.
