Eastbourne’s iconic Bandstand reaches peak season in August with events taking place every day, from a line-up of unbeatable tribute concerts to ‘Kids Party Nights’ to country classics and special Airbourne seating, August’s Bandstand line-up caters to multiple tastes!
August sees a hat-trick of new tribute concerts to three rock and pop icons whose careers span over 50 years. ‘Rod Stuart’ performs rock, pop, soul, motown and swing hits from the music legend Rod Stewart on August 7.
The same weekend brings a double whammy of new tribute concerts when Lionel Richie tribute artist, ‘Hamilton Browne’ gives an uncanny tribute to the Motown legend on August 8. Madonna fans can catch ‘The Vogue Madonna Tribute Show’ on August 28, brand new to the Bandstand’s tribute season, and relive all the classics from the Queen of Pop.
With many more brand new acts in August, the Bandstand line-up welcomes the ‘The Opera Duo’ who mix together opera, musical theatre and classical on August 9. ‘An evening in Nashville’ hosted by ‘Sarah Jayne’ will bring country classics from the likes of Willie Nelson, John Devner and many more to Eastbourne’s Bandstand on August 30.
Every Tuesday night throughout August, ‘Kids Party Nights’, which are aimed at young children but make for a brilliant family evening out, will see entertainers filling the Bandstand with the sound of chart hits and songs from many loved children’s musicals and films. ‘Frankie Says’, ‘AKA’ and ‘The Fo Sho’s’ will all have children dancing and singing and worn out before bedtime throughout the school holidays.
A bandstand favourite, Monday evenings welcome ‘Gilbert & Sullivan’ concerts from the Gilbert & Sullivan Society, bringing a collaboration of songs from fourteen world famous, comic operas dating back to the late 19th Century.
When Airbourne flies into town from August 13-16, the Bandstand arena will transform into an exclusive air show seating area, where Airbourne fans can enjoy comfortable seating and uninterrupted views of the flying display line from £8 per day. Another highlight of Airbourne weekend, ‘Toyah in Concert’ on August 14 promises a dynamic concert from the punk princess, Toyah Wilcox.
Further unmissable tribute nights in August, bring spectacular sound-alike and look-alike concerts from artist impersonating; Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Johnny Cash and extremely popular with a younger audience, One Direction.
The Bandstand’s busiest month is made complete with a whole week of ‘Traditional Afternoon’ concerts from August 3-9 when both ‘The Central Band of the Royal British Legion’ and the ‘Eastbourne Silver Band’ provide classical music afternoons.
