Afternoon of chamber music at Under Ground

THE highly-acclaimed Lycydas Piano Trio are returning to the Under Ground Theatre in February.

Always popular with the chamber-music regulars at the UGT, Lycydas will be back on stage on the afternoon of February 6, at 3pm.

This time, Toby Tramaseur (violin), Caroline Szram (cello) and Aleksander Szram (piano) will be playing Brahms’ Trio Opus 8 and Schumann’s Trio Opus 63.

They’ll also play Phantasie Trio Number One by John Ireland – a composer with a great love for Sussex, where he spent the closing years of his life.

The Lycydas Trio first visited the Eastbourne Under Ground Theatre in the early 1990s when they were studying at Trinity College of Music in London.

They have since become regulars in the annual chamber music series at the UGT, growing in musical stature with every performance – not least in the 2008-9 season, when they played all Beethoven’s piano trios in three recitals spread over two months.

Tickets cost £8, call 737677 or buy them from the Tourist Information Centre.
