Music legends in this local festival

The fantastic Love Supreme Jazz Festival is a three day green field jazz festival (July 1-3) in the stunning surroundings of Glynde Place in the beautiful South Downs near Glyndebourne and Eastbourne.

It was the first full weekend camping jazz festival in the UK and also welcomes day-trippers and non-camping weekend visitors.

The festival launched in a sun drenched weekend in July 2013 and has hosted artists such as Van Morrison, Bryan Ferry, Gregory Porter, and Chaka Khan. The range of 2016 artists include Burt Bacharach, Grace Jones, Average White Band, Caro Emerald and Gogo Penguin.

The festival celebrates jazz, soul, funk and excellent music from a range of artists and styles.

Love Supreme has four stages: The Main Stage hosts headliners with a soul and funk lineage; The Big Top shows the cream of international and UK jazz artists; The Arena where you will find younger artists pushing the limits of what jazz, soul and funk is; and The Bandstand which has the best jazz in East Sussex and Brighton.

The festival will this year also play host to the Verve Jazz Lounge, which will celebrate 60 years of the iconic American jazz label with a range of talks, panel discussions, film screenings and exclusive performances. Renowned record store Rough Trade will also be on-site, hosting artist signings throughout the weekend.

DJs and club nights, classic album playbacks, films, dance classes, kids areas, VIP experiences, camping, and fairground - it’s an immersive musical weekend which has quickly built a loyal and dedicated following.

The wealth of activities aimed at children includes the Higgidy Kids Green, a dedicated kids area featuring dance offs, bubble machine games and a hula hop workshop, a huge bouncy castle, swing dance lessons, a vintage funfair and early morning family yoga and swing classes. All family activities are included in the ticket price.

This year also sees the introduction of The Lazy Bird Kitchen, a long-table-style banqueting restaurant, which will work closely with local artisan producers to offer festival goers a high quality dining option. For info and tickets go to
