Rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar is coming to the Congress Theatre from September 7–12 September in an explosive new production.

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s pioneering musical, of the last seven days in the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of Judas Iscariot, changed the face of musical theatre when it premiered 44 years ago.

Leading performer Glenn Carter returns as Jesus, a role he has played in the West End, on Broadway and on film. He has also had leading roles in Whistle Down The Wind, Les Misérables, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Australian Tim Rogers made his UK stage debut 15 years ago and his credits include West Side Story, Jersey Boys, and the lead in Jekyll & Hyde at the Union Theatre.

X Factor finalist Rachel Adedeji plays Mary Magdalene direct from the tour of Thriller Live. The rock opera features legendary tracks such as I Don’t Know How To Love Him, and Superstar.

Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright have reunited to direct the show. Performances are from Monday 7 – Saturday 12 September 7.30pm, Thursday and Saturday 2.30pm.
