Young music talent will shine at UGT

Some of the brightest performers in the Eastbourne area will be onstage at the town’s Under Ground Theatre at the weekly Saturday coffee-morning on August 8.

The music starts in the theatre auditorium at 10am, and, apart from a short break, continues until noon. Entry is free.

The programme has been put together by pianist Jenny Beckwith, who will play a couple of classical pieces herself as well as accompanying some of the youngsters.

Teenager Lawrence Gillians will sing Widmung by Schumann, Amarilli by Caccini, Ol’ Man River by Jerome Kerr and a duet with professional tenor, Peter Hoare.

Peter will also sing solos You’ll Never Know, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, and If I loved You from Carousel, and also a duet with Lawrence.

Teenager Amber Satchwell will sing Home, How could I Know, and a duet with Lawrence, Anything You can do from Annie get your Gun.

Leanne Boddy will sing Hello Young Lovers by Rodgers & Hammerstein and Wishing You were Somehow Here Again from The Phantom of the Opera.

Georgia Pearson will sing Vilia by Franz Lehar. Brother and sister, Heli and Feitong Wilde (12 and 13 years old) will play piano solos and a duet. The UGT coffee bar will be open until 4pm.
