The light, space and whitewashed walls of the Little Chelsea Gallery provide the perfect backdrop for Texture, Light and Colour, a dazzling new exhibition by Louise Chatfield and Susan Lynch - writes Jean Clark
Both artists work using a variety of mixed mediums, acrylics and oil, which they apply to the canvas with energy and enthusiasm using brushes, palette knives, rags and, in Susan’s case, even her fingernails.
Although they live in Eastbourne, both artists have achieved recognition for their exceptional talent at national and regional level: Susan was short-listed for 2014 Artist of the Year by ‘Artist & Ilustrators’ magazine and is a member of the prestigious Eastbourne Group of Artists; Louise, a member of Sussex Artists, exhibits at Chalk Gallery in Lewes and will feature in their 10th birthday celebration show at Towner 2-14 October.
Texture, Light and Colour is one of the most exhilarating, intelligent and enjoyable art shows I’ve seen in Eastbourne in the past 20 years - a joyous, kaleidoscopic affirmation of the exceptional creative talent we are fortunate to have here in Eastbourne and every bit as exciting as anything you’d find in Margate, Hastings or Brighton. And with so many other attractions in Little Chelsea, it’s definitely worth going along. And it’s free! Exhibition open until 23 August 11am – 4pm (closed Mondays)
