Mellow long evenings are here, so celebrate summer with a night of laughter in Don’t Dress for Dinner at the Devonshire Park Theatre from July 19-30.

Bernard has invited Suzy his gorgeous Parisian mistress to his chic converted barn on the outskirts of Paris – his wife Jacqueline will be away for the weekend with her mother and he has invited best friend Robert along as the perfect alibi, with a gastronomic feast promised by the chef (Suzette) he has employed, what could possibly go wrong?

However Bernard’s wife decides to stay when she finds out that Robert is coming for the weekend – after all Robert is her secret lover, so why wouldn’t she want to enjoy the chance of spending time with him? While Robert mistakes Suzette the chef for Suzy, Bernard’s girlfriend.

The plot thickens and the glorious dance of misdirection and miscommunication results in an evening of hilarity which has been described as a near faultless piece of theatrical invention.

Written by Marc Camoletti, most famous smash hit farce Boeing Boeing, this comedy of duplicity stars Ben Roddy, Damian Williams, Sue Devaney, Polly Lister and Tracey Penn. Ben has performed in a number of productions at Devonshire Park Theatre including the other Marc Camoletti farce Boeing Boeing, and most recently in the thriller A Party to Murder, while Damian previously appeared at the Devonshire Park in the acclaimed My Dogs Got No Nose. He is one of the UK’s best pantomime Dames and without question a brilliant comic actor who will be the perfect foil as Robert to Ben Roddy’s Bernard.

The play was first performed in France in 1987, then ran in London for six years and opened on Broadway in 2012.

Nightly performances from Tuesday to Saturday at 7.45pm, Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm, tickets from £15.50, book or find more information on 01323 412000 or online www.eastbournetheatres.co.uk.
