Eastbourne Choral Society’s summer concert will feature a collaboration with established professional musicians, in performing Puccini’s Messa di Gloria and Poulenc’s Gloria at All Saints’ Church, Grange Road.

Pictured is soprano soloist Rachel Shouksmith, who has sung a wide variety of sacred works and operatic roles, in addition to her involvement in teaching, conducting and recording.

Paul Austin Kelly (tenor) has sung leading roles at opera houses including Glyndebourne, the Metropolitan and La Scala; he also has a wide concert repertoire, and has featured on BBC Radio 3.

Similarly, Geoffrey Moses (bass) has sung a wide variety of roles at Glyndebourne and major opera houses throughout the world, and made several recordings for major commercial labels.

Under its musical director John Hancorn, the choir will be accompanied by Sussex-based pianist Rachel Fryer, who is in great demand both as a soloist and an accompanist, and whose recordings have featured on Classic FM.

The concert is on Saturday July 2 at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £12, and they are available from the Tourist Information Centre or on the door. Further details and information about the group can be found at www.eastbournechoralsociety.org.uk.

The Eastbourne Choral Society exists to promote the enjoyment and appreciation of choral music and to encourage both members of the choir and audiences to further their knowledge of choral works.

The choir performs two or three major concerts a year and takes part in other musical events in the town. At present its membership numbers approximately 90.

The choir considers itself fortunate in having the opportunity to work with some excellent instrumentalists and soloists. Choir members are available to sing at weddings, funerals and other events. Each year the group sings carols to raise money for local charities.
