This Saturday (October 11) Emma Mason Gallery in Cornfield Terrace opens a new exhibition of work by printmaker Robert Tavener RE (1920-2004) - featuring drawings, watercolours and original prints from his archive.

Tavener lived and worked in Eastbourne and his career as a printmaker and illustrator spanned more than 50 years.

This new display will include rare original prints for sale as well as watercolour paintings and drawings not previously available.

There will also be a display of work from his archive including early illustrations, posters and sketch books. All work comes from the former studio of Robert Tavener now held with the Emma Mason Gallery.

The gallery has also produced a new book by Tavener called ‘Vignettes of Sussex’ which includes 35 colour plates of his favourite Sussex images.

The book is published in a limited, numbered edition of only 150 copies and there is also a special edition with an original hand-coloured lithograph by Robert Tavener.

The exhibition is free and runs from to Saturday, November 8, open 10am-5-pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday (or by appointment).
