Anton Du Beke is just loving his latest show Ballroom to Broadway which glides into The Congress Theatre in Eastbourne in early March.

Who wouldn’t want to dance their way around the country, asked Anton when he spoke to the Herald on Tuesday?

The Ballroom to Broadway tour will comprise 43 performances in 35 venues - gruelling for most but ‘just great fun’ for Anton and his team.

“They are all wonderful to dance with and we have such a good time,” said Anton who starting dancing at the age of just 11. “Of course we don’t get to see the show but we have such great feedback almost everywhere we go that it really is most satisfying.”

Dancing popularity has exploded over the last few decades and become a familiar sight in millions of front rooms thanks to television shows such as Strictly.

Anton, who took his first dance exam at 12 and began competitive dancing just a few years later, is just pleased to be part of ‘this wonderful experience’.

“It’s so great to see so many people of all ages dancing or enjoying dancing. It’s such a great way to meet people.

“But it’s not all glamour and glitz – there’s plenty of hard work needed and tours such as this can be tough as well as very rewarding.

“It’s great when we get such feedback from our audiences. It makes it all worthwhile.”

Ballroom to Broadway celebrates the golden sound of musicals through a star-spangled programme of dance and song.

Witty, charismatic and a natural entertainer, Anton’s skills in front of an audience extend far beyond his exceptional ballroom talents and the show will see him present and perform a collection of show-stopping numbers that epitomise the ballroom magic.

Anton is no stranger to Eastbourne. “I have been many times and they certainly enjoy their entertainment down on the south coast.

“They won’t be disappointed, it’s a great show.”
