This month sees an exhibition of work by artist Aimie Herbert at the Under Ground Theatre from Friday January 8 until Saturday January 30.
Working almost exclusively with oil paint and a dark muted colour palette, Herbert creates paintings of abstracted interior spaces and landscapes. Recurrent themes in her work are thought, colour, surface, and expression, exploring forms of utterances using monochromatic tones and atmospheric marks, often with minimal disruption.
This disruption illustrates how the mind gets interrupted by anxiety, excitement, and small fragments of fragility.
Herbert has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting from Brighton University and has exhibited in Brighton, London and Chongqing, China, in both group and solo shows. Aimie’s work will be on show and on sale every Friday and Saturday between 10am-4pm.
