See performers from your living room on Stay at Home open mic
Performers are being offered the opportunity to perform to Eastbourne audiences from the comfort of their own living rooms in a new Stay at Home open mic session, courtesy of The Stage Door.
The popular entertainment pub has adapted its monthly open mic nights to appear online, with local musicians sending in video of their home-staged performances in advance.
All videos will be edited into a new music programme to appear on The Stage Door’s Facebook page from 7.30pm on Wednesday April 29.
The new programme is just one of many ways in which the pub is continuing its regular entertainment programme online, with weekly quizzes from the resident quizmaster each Tuesday and a fortnightly live-streamed performance every other Sunday from the living room of the Stage Door’s Take Five Jazz Club singer Tom Fitzpatrick.
Eastbourne Borough Council lead cabinet member for tourism and enterprise, Cllr Margaret Bannister, said “The Stage Door pub quiz and Jazz Club evenings have such a strong following and we are delighted to have been able to keep these going for everyone stuck at home.
“With many other singers currently unable to perform, we felt it was important to keep our open mic nights going for the benefit of music fans and our keen local performers.
“Who knows what local talent we may discover?”
Submissions for the open mic night can be sent by April 28 with a video download link to [email protected] or direct messaged to www.facebook.com/StageDoorEastbourne.
The Stage Door pub quiz features on Facebook from 7pm each Tuesday, with the open mic night at 7.30pm on Wednesday April 29.
Tom Fitzpatrick’s next live streamed show takes place at 7pm on Sunday May 3.
