Local artists are delighted with the success of their Spring Open Houses & Studios over the two weekends in April, with some galleries, including the Pop Up, opened during weekdays too.

There was a variety of artwork on show with some opening their homes for the first time plus other long established venues. The support from the public, friendly atmosphere and fantastic work made this a memorable event.

Former Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd said “I am a huge fan of the whole Eastbourne Artists open house concept. I think it’s a brilliant way for our many talented, local artists to show off their art to the public. My partner Cherine and I had a lovely Sunday during the festival just pootling around the different open houses, admiring what was on display and adding, as ever, a few new pieces of work to our own ever-growing collection.

“I was delighted with the turn out “ says organiser and artist Julian Sutherland-Beatson. “There was a real ‘buzz’ at every Open House I was able to visit and there were some great new events including the Open House Cycle Tour, The Button Box project, and evening life drawing at The Lamb and Crown and Anchor. Even though it was a little chilly, the rain stayed away and there was even a little sun! We’re all looking forward to the next event at Christmas and then this time again next year.” New artists can join at www.eastbourneartists.co.uk
